Im having issues with my power tilt. Engine is a 90 HP 1995 Mariner with a power tilt and trim which is controlled on the side of the throttle.
Push the down direction and the engine goes down each time.
Up direction was working intermittently and i replaced the relay switch, still worked intermittently.
Now up direction is not working at all.....any opinions on where to start with trying to diagnose what is causing the problem.

Bypass the switch on the throttle, if you haven't already done so. Are there other switches, (front or back of boat) same issue? A friend of mine had same problem, the throttle switch worked fine up but not down had to disassemble the switch and clean the contact points of the switch. Good luck!

There are two relays for the tilt/trim operation. The down relay could be bad. Yes the down relay can affect the up operation. Same as the up relay can affect the down operation.

I'll bet my lefty it's the switch.Exact thing happened to me as you explained.I joined wire from switch connection on solenoid to red on solenoid.Did on both to eliminate trim motor as prob. motor should go up and down. Also check wiring from switch connection in control box to solenoid.Eliminate by running new wire between points...still not working check/clean the switch but go easy on it not to rub off the coating then lube with vaso or petroleum jelly.Did mine 6 months ago...still working.

How exactly would you bypass the switch in the trottle? is the wiring that comes out fromt the throttle that controls the trim a specific color?

Your going to have to open up the control box to locate wire plugs.Should be blue and green for up and down.A manual would be handy if you have one.If not post pic of your control and solenoid if you can.You can also probe wires for voltage when activating switch.Check everything before pulling box apart.
