I have noticed over the past few trips out that the motor has seems to be not be able to push the boat as fast as it did a year ago. It also does seems to be running at the same high rpm as it used to even though I have not made any carb changes. I have replaced the stator and voltage rectifier last summer and replaced the lower unit fluid at the beginning of this year. Any ideas on what else to check?

Re: 1995 merc 115 speed loss

Most probably showing signs of dirty carbs, remove the fuel main jets from each carb thru the bowl drain plug, clean and reinstall in their respective carb.

WARNING: the jets are NOT all the same size and each MUST BE in the correct carb.

Replace any fuel filter/install a water separating filter.

Replace the primer bulb.

Rebuild the fuel pump.

If these measures do not restore performance then the carbs should come off for a COMPLETE cleaning, then a thorough Link & Synch following the directions in the Factory Service Manual.
