I have a 95 Merc 200 EFI that I am needing some advise with before I have a shop look at it. The motor is mounted on a 95 21' Bumble Bee and on plane cruises 54-55 mph. Last weekend there was a noticeable inconsistency in HP..
1. When cold the motor would top out at 33-34 mph after struggling to get on plane.
2. After sitting off for 30-40 minutes it ran normal for 3-4 miles
3. Sat for another 30 minutes or so while fishing... again it was lagging to get on plane/max speed 35 mph and acting like it was starving for fuel.
I replaced all fuel lines, filter and bulb.
Returned to the lake..
1. HP was still limited and possibly less than before
2. Turned it off...sat a few seconds.. ran better but not at it's best
3. I started paying attention to the RPM..maxed at 3,800 at full throttle and sounded as though it was flooding out...let off the hot foot a bit and RPM stayed at 3,800 until I let it off of plane.
4. By this time it was smoking more than normal for a 2-stroke.. I will check the plugs in the morning to see if there fouled
At this point I plan to have a marine shop look at the motor so it is repaired correctly.
Just looking for some feedback/thoughts that I can compare to their findings
Tks for any help, Chris
