I bought a 17' Bass Tracker 2 weeks ago.It had about an inch of fuel in the tank.I bought about a gallon with me and a battery to make sure that it started. It started up after a few tries,I turned it right off.I put in new plugs, new fuel filter. But I filled up the gas tank.It ran great at 27 miles per hour.On the way home after catching about 15 bass.It started loading up at 2000 rpm's.Acted the same way as before.I drained the tank and cleaned it out today.Installed another filter.Have'nt started it yet, will tomarrow.Could it be anything else.

You might tell us the motor's HP and year. That will help a lot. We may even be able to tell you if the top speed is correct.

Engines (in general) will load up from incorrectly set idle mixture or dirty carbs, or bad fuel pump.

Sorry about that,I thought I had it in there.it is a 1995 40 hp Mercury engine.Pro Series.with a 17' Deep Vee aluminum Bass Tracker. But would it run so good for about 10 miles then when cut off and trolling for a couple of hours, then go bad.It starts right up all the time just can't push it over 2000 rpm's without featering the throttle back later. Thanks, this site is the best.
