1995 yamaha 200hp v6 2 stroke txrt spanner nut 6g5-5483-00 and claw

I was told by someone that my yamaha outboard spanner nut is not needed mine is very worn out . I was told what it was when the prop was removed , there is no information online , any information or advice would by great , thanks

it holds the carrier into the lower unit case.
yes it is needed

What we have here boys is a failure to communicate.

The lower unit retainer nut and washer are somewhat important. Help to hold the bearing housing, propeller shaft, propeller some other needed parts in the lower unit.

thanks for your information , i thought it was a zinc , i will remove whats left of it and replace it .
