1. engine stalls when going into forward or reverse quickly. if i SLOWLY inch the throttle forward she will pick up sometimes.

1. engine stalls when primer knob is fully turned counter clockwise. i have to keep some clockwise turn on the knob to keep the engine from stalling.

1. engine wills stall in idle eventually.

ive stripped the carb, all components have no damage and have been thoroughly cleaned.

i have tried fiddling with the idle screw and the mixture screw. i feel this may be the issue. i do not know how far in to set the mixture screw so i do not damage it. i can sometimes get a good long idle but the stalling when going into gear issue will arise.

plugs are brand new. fuel is brand new and mixed 50:1. bulb will get hard. pressing bulb during the stall will not improve the issue.

any suggestions? thank you

The idle adjustment screw for minimum idle will overide the knob adjustment, and the knob will easily lower the idle to stalling RPMs depending on the idle screw adjustment, so that part is normal. Adjust the idle screw to where it won't stall

The air mixture screw is adjusted to where it runs the best, and will not hurt the motor, it will just run poorly at low RPM's if it's out of adjustment.

Poor and/or uneven compression can cause idle issues, so check that.

You said you cleaned the carb, if the compression is good you may need to revisit it, it may have an air leak, plugged low speed jet, or the mixture screw isn't set correctly.

It should idle for hours on end with no problems.

Try opening (counter clockwise) the idle mixtuire 1/4 turn.

Set up idle speed. Open low speed counterclockwise ..1/4 turn at a time. Make sure gas filters clean; plugs clean and gapped.
