I have a Scout202 with a Evinrude Oceanpro 175. I took the boat out 2 weeks ago fishing, and the boat ran fine for about 4 to 5 hours. I get about 200 feet from the launch and the engine kills. The engine would not run in the idle position, but would run rough without the drive engaged at about 2000rpm's. Every time I tried to engage the drive the engine would kill. So, I get the boat home and hooked it up to the hose to for a flush, and it idled normal. I then did a compression test, change spark plugs, and added some seafom to the fuel tank. The compression checked out well (120-130 per cyl.) and the plugs were wet with oil and fuel. I also changed the primer ball on the fuel line. I decided to test it out again yesterday in the local river. I ran it at different speeds for about an hour and decided I must have done something to fix the problem. Well, I get about a quater of a mile from the launch cruising at about 32 knots and the engine shut down. It did crank back up and got me to the lauch, but this happen about 4 times trying to get to the launch. I was originally thinking carb problems, but if it was the carbs I would think I would have problems from the initial start. Maybe not, but at this point I am lost. My next step is to run the boat with an external fuel tank and try to elimate any fuel line problems from the onboard tank to the engine. Sorry for the long post, and thanks for any help
