That'd be called a win. What was compression numbers?

Jesus time flies. Have a new baby at home as well as a fractured ankle/sprained Achilles so just been busy.

the compression numbers are:

1 - 160
3 - 155
5 - 150
2 - 175
4 - 165
6 - 190

#3 and 5 are a bit lower then I’d like, but’s it’s acceptable for a ‘blown’ engine. Haha

Have been out 4-5 times now with no issue. Got ballsy and made sure I updated my insurance and the wife and I did a 2 day trip around the San Juan islands. Put about 15-20 hours (no counter on the boat) over the weekend and she purrs.

Seems i have developed a leak tho, somewhere up front. Either the timing cover or front crank seal. Also the thermostat is leaking, pretty minimally but it’s time to change that out.

Thinking of taking it down to just the heads and block and resealing everything I can.

Thoughts on the edlebrock intake and 4 barrel? Or any other intake that would bump power up? Not trying to make it a v8, just want what I can, and my carb is rusty and choke doesn’t work, would rather upgrade then replace. Unless I shouldn’t, then why?

So far I can’t say how impressed I am with this boat. It’s the smoothest riding boat I’ve been in. I could never go back to that bayliner haha

heres a picture after I spent a good 8 hours with a polisher and restorer wax. She shinned up pretty!

Ayuh,..... If you go anywhere near saltwater, get the cast iron manifold, Michigan Motors carries 'em,......

For the carb, the Edlebrock 1409 is a carbon copy of the Merc/ Weber AFB carb, currently used,.....
The Merc throttle cable bracket will simplify the installation,......

You'll see 'bout 25 more hp, at Wot with the swap,.....
'n better throttle response down low, due to smaller primary bores,....

I really like the 1409. It is the easiest to calibrate carb ever made. Note: do not use the 4.3L V6 calibration kit from Edelbrock on a Vortec motor. That kit must have been designed pre-Vortec and is hugely too lean with the better breathing Vortec motor. Far better to just start off with the 5.0L jetting that comes in the 1409 and adjust from there, or start with what a few of us ended with and adjust from there. If you get a 1409, PM me and I'll toss you the links form when we collaborated on this forum in calibrating.
