Have a 1996 40HP Mercury that's getting no spark from any plugs. Removed the plastic casing over the switchbox and found a red wire from the voltage regulator to the solenoid had grounded out. Reconnected the wire (see attached picture - repaired wire has blue splicing). Still getting no spark. Any suggestions on what may be wrong or what to test next?

Thanks,

There are varous possibile reasons for no spark and various tests that can be done to identify the reason. A shop manual for your particular motor would be the best source for such guidance, as it would contain step by step instructions for the various tests. If you don't have a shop manual, the below linked troubleshooting guide may be of some help.

If you don't solve the problem after doing the prescribed troublshooting tests , report back on what you did test and what you found out. This information will help in providing more specific advice. Good luck.
