I am going to attempt a rebuild of my 96 50HP johnson, the repair manual choices for outboards seems
to be Seloc, Clymer or the Factory service manuals. I assume the factory service manual is best, but they want $75 + shipping. Are the Clymer or Seloc manuals going to help me with this powerhead rebuild?

Your best bet is the factory manual, it is more expensive, but worth the money. The factory manual will be for your engine only, and not a collection of engines. It will have all the factory specs and procedures.
If you haven't already, check e-bay, sometimes you can find a deal there on manuals. Make sure you use your model number to get the correct manual.
