1996 70HP Rude-Reliable?

I'm looking at an 18'Cobia CC with a 70 HP Rude. I think she's underpowered but it's a sweet deal. Compression is good and she runs sweet. Can anyone give me the scoop on this type of engine?<br />Stalker

Those triple loopers were/are among the best outboards ever, Stalker.<br /><br />I agree that 70hp is mighty small horses for an 18'CC. Be sure she is propped right so you don't lug her to death.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

I hope Im not pirating the thread. How would this type engine compare performance wise to a '67 Merc. 950? With the 950 being crank rated and the 70 being prop rated, shouldnt they give similar performance? This is on an old 16' closed bow deep V hull.
