So the question is if I can get this off is just the top cap and seals replaceable? From the parts blow-up it appears you have to change the whole unit. I maybe doing manual tilt yet again !!!
They make a special tool for removing the caps. It's looks like you may have to apply some heat to the cap. You can buy the cap/ pistion and seals for a rebuild.
