Hello all,

I'm having a problem with my merc and hoping someone may be able to offer suggestions.

I haven't used my boat in a couple years, but the motor was winterized and the gas had stabilizer. The motor is getting gas, its turning over, but doesn't seem to be firing at all.

I pulled all the plugs, and checked for spark and there doesn't seem to be spark on any of them. I'm thinking this must be the cdi module. Can anyone confirm or offer any other suggestions?

If you think it is likely the cdi, any idea what price range this will be in?

The motor has run great for the time I've had it, since 2001.

Thank you very much, hope you're all enjoying the summer.

Was the boat stored outside? Mice seem to love to chew on wiring. I suspect it still could be in the kill switch or the wiring to it. The motor will still turn over but not have spark. It is possible that the ignition module is bad but I would check all my wiring and connections first. Frayed or chewed wiring, corroded connections are the common thing after long layups? Disconnect the kill switch at the motor and then check for spark.

it was in a boathouse but there was something, likely a coon inside it. I thought that the kill switch would prevent the motor for turning over. I'll disconnect it and check for spark, then backtrack from there if it works.

thank you for the suggestion.
