1996 90hp trim trouble

I have a 1996 90 HP johnson I raised the motoro to mow under it and the next day I went to lower the motor and I hear the pump but it will not go up or down. How do I check the trim fluid? any help would do, Thanks.

If the motor is up, you should see a round white cap. Remove it and top off the resevoir with some Dextron III ATF.

Ok the cap was black, now I removed the cap and only about 2 to 3 table spoons full came out. How much does it take? and is there an easy way to fill the resuvoir? My father wants to disconect the trim anyway what do you recomend?

If theboat was level and som fluid came out when you opened the cap, it is already full. I use a ATF bottle with one of those tops that comes with the LU gear oil. It makes it easy to squirt into the resvoir.

Anyway it sounds like your PTT unit has problems.
