Greetings,
I purchased this boat last summer, badged as a 1996 BayLiner "Extreme" Olympic Edition (19ft) with a correct craft hull badge, and I have never come across any other like it. It also has an engine badged as a 120HP Force by mercury marine performance series limited edition and MSD ignition? Does anyone know who I would contact at Bayliner to find the history of this combination? Is there a hotline or has anyone ever come across this setup. I am wondering if it is even authentic. Perhaps someone just put some of there own invented badging on the unit?

Thanks for your help.

Was 1996 a year when the Olymics was held? Just curious.

Bayliner used to make Olympic edition boats that were geared more towards fishing. Kind of like a special edition Trophy.

Sad, that they used the force engine. They were never the powerhouse engine.

That's because they were 1970's technology and remained that way.

Chrysler Corp purchased West Bend's outboard manufacturing in January,1965. Chrysler sold the marine division not because they desired to, but because it was demanded as part of the government's loan guarantees. Chrysler stern drives were sold to Bayliner Boats in 1983 and the outboard division was sold to the Force Outboards division of U.S. Marine - an affiliate of Bayliner - in 1984.

That write-up is essentially accurate, but I question that Chrysler ever made "stern drives" (as in I/O). Must mean the inboard motors?

Check out vegasphotoman's sleekcraft restore project on here. It has a Chrysler sterndrive. I'd never seen one before either. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=353053

Man, I learn something new here every day! They musta made 'em for what... about a minute? :)

Browsing the pics, the 3rd one down caught my eye- apparently vegasphotoman keeps a woman stored in the bow of the boat, which I happen to think is a wonderful idea :D

I would almost gaurantee that "Correct Craft" and "MSD" were added by a previous owner as a joke

Yup, you be right dude -- - turns out the boat is a 94 not a 96 - and the jokes on me :) thank goodness the rig is in nice shape, well maintained and everything works so far (knock on wood, like my head) :) buyer beware!

Cheers!
