Hi folks I'm struggling to figure out what my starting issue is. After my 48 sits a few days it doesn't want to start. All external things have been checked such as fuel delivery, spark, compression, safety cut off switch, and it seems to charge battery OK. The model is E48ESLED. I have had to start it with starter fluid when I want to get her going. After it warms up it starts with no problems and an hour later it starts up again. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!!!

On cold start do you open up the throttle ?-----Do you push the key IN WHILE CRANKING ?

Yes I raise idle lever and push in key to set choke while cranking.

Pushing in the key does not " set the choke " on this motor.----Pushing in the key and holding it in while cranking sprays fuel into the motor just like you are using the ether.---Have you checked / tested the primer valve ????

I don't think so but doesn't it make a clicking sound when the key is pushed in, because I'v heard that.
Do i have to remove and inspect orifice passage while using 12 volt source?

The primer valve that you are speaking of is not the primer bulb right?

There are no choke flappers on this motor !----When you push in the key an electric valve ( aka primer ) opens up to spray fuel into the motor for start-up.---Not the same as the priimer bulb at all.---If this motor does not start after a 3 day rest there may be something wrong with the motor.----There may be something wrong with the starting procedure.

Ok I will look in to the primer valve operation, if its not that what are the chances of lower end (crank shaft seals) not sealing and allowing a lower engine leak. Just a thought, its my worst fear!

Forgot to mention when the engine is full throttle it runs great and at idle it seems to do ok.

Learn the function of the primer valve.---Learn how it operates.--Learn how to test it .-Review your starting procedure.--On more than one occasion have I shown folks how to start these motors.---Just not the same as turning the key on an automobile !!
