So I’m looking to snag a little aluminum Jon Boat or skiff to do some lake and river farting around. I wast test riding a 16’ Alumacraft with a 25 E-rude 2 stroke.

Shes definetly old and in need of some love - and I enjoy a project.

anyway, it started first push (electric start). But there was almost no water from the tell-tale - it was all coming out of the exhaust and through the midsection where the LU connects to the extension.

the engine didn’t give any signs of overheating - but there were no gauges or alarms so I can’t be sure. Here’s a link to a video - I dont know anything about the smaller engines - but I know something isn’t quite right. Almost like the water pump is just pushing water through the midsection.

The video is after about a 15 minute ride. So the t-stat would have had plenty of time to open.

I didn’t purchase it - would be getting back to
them. Anyone experience this before that could shed some light on what may be the issue?

thank you as always.

Sounds like a project.Video way too short.Water should come out right away. Not when the tstat opens if it has one in there or it is in good condition.I would of thought running it for 15 minutes would have had it over heated and seized.Did you feel the top of the block?Owner should have known better to run it at all with no tell tale water.I had mine on muffs once and the muffs moved and had no tell tale for a minute or two and the top of block was very hot.Luckily no harm done I could see.Could be a clog somewhere.Never know until you tear it apart.

Run some wire or weedeater string up the telltale. Might just have some mud in it.
