1996 Eviunrude 200 - Oil Mixing at 60:1

Hey folks. My oil light came on so I added 50:1 oil directly to the gas. I then drew a line on the oil tank so I could gauge oil usage. After using the boat for a few days, I filled the gas tank with 30 gallons and added 60 ounces of oil to bring the oil level up to the line I drew. If I'm calculating correctly, my engine is burning at about 60:1 instead of 50:1.

If this is correct, do we think that this is an oil restriction issue OR is it the pump?

Thanks very much, I appreciate your feedback.

vro............variable rate oiling system

at idle it runs about 100:1..............wot is the only time your eng needs 50:1.

i would say its normal..............unless you run wide open all the time

Hey David, that's some good news :) for a change.

The oil light issue is probably a faulty sensor then?

Thanks again.

True indeed for a "VRO2" pump. That's what I have and it averages right around 60:1 (when it's working correctly - I have a post about the fact it's now under-oiling... will probably replace it).

A 1996 - isn't that likely to be the most recent iteration of the pump which actually oils at right around 60:1 all the time. But either way, what OP is seeing is good.
