Hello, I am new here and maybe you can help. I am trying to remove the lower unit on my outboard and seems it doesn't want to come apart. I have read the manual and am seems I missing a step ?? I have removed the five nuts on the studs and hit it with a rubber mallets many times. I applied some heat but it still doesn't want to let loose. Any suggestions. Thanks. Dennis

Thats about it.
Wiggle tap pound...
Don't break the anti ventilation plate.

Could be the driveshaft is stuck and will need extra persuasion.
Or if used in salt, the gunk may just have it stuck together.

Is there any movement at all?

Hello Rosco, There's about a 1/8" gap between the spacer and the lower unit. The guy I bought this from didn't do any maint. on the motor and now I got the problems. I think I will end up bringing it to a marine mechanic and play the bucks. Fishing season is upon us !!!
