1996 Force 120hp power head removal

Removed the 8 nuts off the bottom, the 4 bolts from the inside all wires and hoses and cant remove power head. Anyone have any idea why? Thanks in advance Erich

If U'r sure that all the bolts are loose.Then U might have to pry it apart.They use silicone and it can get pretty sticky.J

I too am having problems removing my powerhead. I also have a Mercury Force 120HP - 1996 version.

I have a repair manual that says to remove the exhaust housing and remove the 6 nuts that are exposed. I had 8.

Then, remove the 3 bolts on each side of the front of the block holding the spacer plate. I have no bolts that I can find. I did remove 4 bolts that mounted to rubber shock mounts in the bottom of the engine housing.

I (and my powerhead) are stuck! What do I do now? :confused:

Wiggle it and it will come off, just watch the shifter mechanism they are sorta a pain to get repositioned. I thought mine was unhooked and it ended coming off with the motor, note the position its in incase it moves on ya. good luck

They do stick I had to pull and twist to get mine off.

I was able to remove it after some help. Takes two a little heavy. thanks

i have to do a piston on my merc/force sportjet 90 and hopefully wont have the same problems. i will just break out the B.F.H. aka big freekin hammer... lol.. just kidding.
