Howdy, everyone! A friend of mine has a 1996 Four Winns that I have helped him work on over the past year or so. Some of you may have helped me with issues here on the forums a while back. Well, I ended up purchasing a very similar boat to his as a hobby project. Got it at a steal. The engine needs some cleaning, but it's got great compression and runs like a champ.

Luckily, the stringers are in great shape and the deck is pretty good as well. I absolutely HATE carpet in boats, so that is going to have to go, All the seats will need to be refinished and the wood boxes for the back seats has some dry rot, so those need rebuilding. All in all, it feels like a good opportunity to do some custom seating/storage back there. We are expecting my first child in April, so money is, of course, an issue. So updates to this build might be slow, but I'll keep on it and keep everyone updated! Here are some "Before" photos.

I'll subscribe to this thread. I have a 1995 Four Winns 170 Freedom Fish and Ski. It looks really similar to this Horizon. It also looks like your Horizon might be a F/S, I can see the seat base for a front pedestal. Do you have a live well under the port cushion of the rear bench? I've had to replace a few seat backs and bench bases on mine as well. Some of the screws were pulling out of the wood. I just used the old as a template to cut new plywood and then coated it in some epoxy I had laying around for water resistance. I still want to replace some of the vinyl as well. The corners are worn through in spots.

Good luck!
