Water in engine oil..It didnt run hot it has a alarm system on it..It will shut down if it runs hot..Its a 1996 90hp honda it has around 1200 hrs on it..How much of a pain is it to change out the head gasket??Also what would be the best repair manual to buy for that engine??

Hi,
The head gasket replacement will help or else it can also be a corroded block need to check after the head gasket replacement.

A leakdown test will tell you if you have a blown head gasket. You also have other places water can enter the oil including the natural environment you operate in .SOO how much water over how much time?If you are draining as much as a quarter cup from that pan in a humid hot region in a season ,that is considered acceptable. You also need to consider how the engine is mounted on the boat as they can and will ingest water if the idle releif ports are underwater.
