1996 J50 Lower Unit Leak

I got a bunch of fishing string behind the prop and it looks like it ruined the seal.
Can I remove the seal with a steel pick and slip a new one on or is more disassembly required?

Service departments have tools to remove and replace the seals without pulling the bearing carrier.

You can probably get the seal out with a Lisle shaft type seal puller #58430, but you will still need a tool to replace the seal with the propeller shaft in the way.
