I have a 1996 Johnson 150 saltwater series. The engine only runs when I hold the key in the start position. After replacing the power pack, ignition switch, voltage regulator, and rectifier it will barely run for 5 min and then dies. Anybody got any ideas????

What do you mean by hold the key in the start position? If you mean push the key in then it could be one of two things. First, be sure the dead man lanyard is securely fitted in the control. Second, holding the key in injects fuel directly into the intake manifold and bypasses the carbs so if that is the problem (fuel supply, carbs, VRO, air leak....)I would trace from the tank to the carbs for any leaks, verify tank is vented, verify fuel is pumping, verify carbs are clean and floats are working.<br />Good Luck and post what you find
