I was looking at a Johnson 225 and the guy said that he had ran over some sand and the motor sucked it in and 5 minutes later it started knocking. Does anyone know how sand would cause a two stroke to knock. I already have one of these motors new and I know that johnson recalled it and put a brand new power head on it because of the head bolts coming loose. Could this be the problem causing the knock. Is it worth buying to rebuild or not?

Only way to tell is open it up and start measuring. As long as it had oil in it when it happened and it still turns over now it should be rebuildable.
