1996 Mercury 150XR6... Good Motor?

Looking for 150HP motor to replace the 115HP Outboard on my 1989 Checkmate Spectra 170 open bow . Found a 1996 Mercury 150XR6 2-stroke oil-injected outboard. Could anyone enlighten me as to the good and the bad to this motor/year. The motor has a 20" shaft. Motor will also need control box and cables. Anyone know what models/model number will work with this motor? Thank you.

Like with any used motor it all depends on how well it was taken care of. Give it a good going over and check condition of wiring, signs of overheating and water intrusion in the lower unit. And by all means do a compression check. Controls are pretty common.

If motor checks out it will be a good addition to that hull making boat a easy 55+mph ride depending on set-up.
