1996 Mercury EFI 200 horsepower

I have a 1996 Mercury EFI 200 horsepower outboard. I was out fishing yesterday and everything was going well all of a sudden I decide to go up into this Creek and I was up one plane and the motor just died. I don't know what happened I didn't hit anything or anything of that nature. One thing I do know I checked for spark and I am getting spark I check the kill switch it is operating normally I'm not getting any fuel for some RV as soon as I shoot either into the car or to the injector I mean she starts right up and dies don't know what that could be I've checked all the fuel filters water separator if anybody has any idea of what it could be your help would be appreciated

Its you low presurre fuel pump, remove the outlet hose from your low presure fuel pump turn the motor over for 15 seconds did gas come gushing out, if gas came gushing out the low presure fuel pump is good, now you have to get to the high presure fuel pump in the vapor seperator tank, more importanly make sure the screen in front of the high presure fuel pump in not clogged, then test the high presure fuel before you buy a new pump there expensive.

first merc "production efi" came in '87 called laser type.. very little changed (mostly parts upgrades) till laser style went away in mid 2000's.

does yours have tha separate black 'lectric pump/vst or tha later silver combined pump/vst?.. have seen some very early production '96's with old style... either way do below.

remove cowl.. turn key ta on.. you should be able ta hear tha electric pump come on and run roughly 20 ta 30 seconds, maybe less, then go off.. if tha pump doesn't run that few seconds then you my have a bad pump or a bad pump driver circuit in tha ecu?.
