Those motors runs at a min factory stated idle rpm range, if setting lower motor will absolutely die. 2 strokes motors are nervous ones at very low rpm compared to 4 strokes which idles fine at way less idle rpm. Not much you can do as yours is a special application. Probably install an large aft chute to slow the combo down...

Will be a PITA to swap a larger prop pitch to slow the idle rpm down for just that sole fishing purpose and have a real ill dog when returning running to terra firme....

I have a troll plate on it already, problem is at minimum throttle it's fine for the walleye spring troll speeds, but give it a bump up to get to 2.25-2.5 for salmon trolling it bogs down, so I have to adjust idle up some to compensate.
PITA but I guess cheaper then buying a 4-stroke...
Bought an electric bow mount troll motor, so this will solve the problem.
 
Top
