I have recently purchased a 96 24ft party barge... The boat is amazing has factory tailer, all aluminum flooring and alot of seating. The bad. The motor has been replaced with a 77 evinrude 90 hp. From its original 120hp force that threw a rod. .. I have found a open bow that. . Has a 125 force but will it work?

you can switch motors, but will need the total wiring harness from the new motor. Personally if the Evinrude runs good I would rather have it. You can still get parts for it, but if it is a 77 it is not a 90 hp. Its either a 85 or 115. Get the model number off of it and check exactly what you have in the Johnson Evinrude forum. If it is a good running 77 it may out last you, but it will be a gas hog. If the model number is not on the motor bracket look for a round welsh plug on the top of the motor. Its about the size of a quarter, silver, and has numbers on it.

Smoken, the 125 Force should work, however the big down side of the Force would be the parts issue, they have been out of business for a while so if you run into any issue needing parts you may be bent over the barrel having to use used parts, and being charged a premium for them. Also, going from 115 to 125 you are not going to see much of an increase of speed or performance, maybe 1MPH at best. It doesn't sound like it would be worth the effort, headache, or money. On the 'Rude, when was the last tune up? I noticed much better performance increase when I went on upgraded the plugs and and went and did a full tune-up. My 2 cents.
