Ok first off I'm new and not real sure what to do. I was out cleaning my boat an getting ready for the new season. But when I tried to turn the steering wheel it was a no go. And now that I think about it there were a couple times last season when the steering would lock then come lose with pressure. But not this time. Now I've disconnected the cable at the tiller the motor move free but can't get the cable to move. Now at this point I'm lost I don't know anything about the steering of this boat I beleive it is all original. But I don't know what to do now or what parts I need to buy. Anyone with help is welcome Thanks in advance.

Ayuh,... 1st off,... Make sure the cable ends moves freely inside the Tilt Tube on the motor.....
If that's Not the Problem,....
Replace the Cable,+ Helm...

Re: 1996 Wellcraft 160ccf Steering

Thanks guys for the help it was in the tilt tube. I had to take it all the way out and heat the tube and dirve the steering cable out heat PB Blaster and a B.F.H. did the trick. Then since I didn't have a tube brush I used a shotgun bore brush. All the time I was pumping grease to the tilt I thought it was getting to the steering an I only put a small amout on the cable ends. I guess live an learn again thanks.
