not sure how to remove bearing carrier. This one is not like the 20's and 25's where you losen the bolts around the o-ring and use the thrust washer tool to break it loose.
This one has no bolts and is smooth where the thrust washer runs. I'm sure it screws out but don't know right or left. or what keeps it from backing out.

egeodale;

Do you have a manual to view tool 91-13664?

The carrier is a LH thread.

I dug up selco manual that will tell you how to completely rebuild an engine but only tells you how to remove and replace a lower unit, nothing internal. Thanks for part#,
I'll look it up and make me a modified version. Still seems odd that there is nothing there to keep if from backing out.

egeodale;

You don't say whether the engine you are referrring to is a 2/4 stroke so this 2 stroke will cover the information you need about the bearing carrier and a picture of the tool.

Not to sure I understand what you mean by:

Though using different parts, it is really no different than my '68 merc 500which uses a cover nut to hold the carrier in. In your case, the LH threaded carrier assembly does the same job.
