I don't believe Sears ever had a factory that built motors. Your motor was most likely built by Chrysler or Force, then rebadged. I do know that Chrysler then, in turn, outsourced many powerheads on the smaller motors to Tecumseh.

Actually Sears (in most cases) never manufactured anything, they bought large lots of items and had their name put on it. They broke a lot of companies doing that but it is another story.

The gamefisher motors in those days (according to my dad-he sold sporting goods at sears for 50 years) were evenrude/johnson for the most part

you guys are absolutely right...I re-read my post and should have said they were "sold" by sears definately not made by sears. I went through sears web site to get the parts list for mine when it needed parts and actually ordered them from NAPA auto parts (inpeller for water pump).
