I would like to change the impeller on a newly bought 130hp 1997 Evinrude. I am yet to get a service manual. The tell tale looks pretty weak and someone said that once it heats up well, the themostat will open up? is that a correct statement?
I would like to service the impeller anyway so if any one can point me to the right directions on how to go about doing it..I would really appreciate it!.
also if someone can verify if this is the VL-90 degree model?

Water pump replacement is not difficult, but can be tricky. Lots of gaskets, o-ring placement, sealant application, impeller key orientation.... Most first timers miss one or two bolts to drop the L/U, and miss disconnecting the shift rod. Fitting the impeller into the cup is a trick. And when putting the L/U back, most first timers miss the all important mating of the water tube to the output of the water pump.
