I have a 1997 Evinrude/Tracker 40 hp outboard on a pontoon boat. The neutral idle arm has not worked for some time and now something else inside broke (The idle would not go down with pulling back in neutral). I took the controls off and took it apart and the switch that makes sure it is in neutral to start was broken. I think something else has broke also as the idle would not come back down when pulled back to neutral. I think I need a new box. The box includes the key switch and alarm etc.. The cables are fine. My questions are:1.) I can not find a factory replacement box? I have serached everywhere on the internet including the parts on this site. 2.) If I do buy a box, how hard is it to hook up the cables? I have had several box problems over the years and it seems that once you seperate it, it is impossible to get back together with all the parts in place. Let alone moving the ignition switch and alarm. Am I missing something? 3.) Should I buy the box with cables connected to avoid the problem of having to attach. 4.) It is an old pontoon boat; Should I just mount the existing box to get the start key and buzzer functionaltiy (bypass the neutral idle swith) and buy and also mount generic teleflex controls controls for the throttle and shift cables?

All help is appreciated!
