Is there any way to adjust the idle on this engine besides the screw on the starboard side that is attatched to the control linkage? The manual says that the adjustment should only be moved far enough so that it moves only the timing, not the carburation. Problem is, at factory specs, or close to them, the motor only idles in gear at about 500 rpms. The manual states that it should be at about 850 in gear. It runs very smoothly, just so slowly at idle that I'm worried about it getting fouled up. Just about the only adjustment that I haven't looked at so far is the timing, but I figured it wouldn't run so well if the timing were off at all. The carburators were rebuilt by a mechanic about 6 months ago, and I don't know how it ran before this. Could it be that he maybe put a jet in incorrectly? Or might it be the ethanol fuel now, seeing as how that doens't have the same amount of energy as pre-ethanol fuel?

On some of those mid 90 motors the idle speed is adjusted with the idle timing screw. When doing a link & sync idle timing is just set so you can get it running.

I take that back. Thought I was talking about a Merc. I'm not sure about yours.
