1997 seaswirl striper 4.3 shifter

I am trying to remove the the shifter to get at the neutral safety switch(works intermitently). I think there are six outside screws and one in the center of the arm. When I remove the one in the arm the handle doesn't come off so I can drop the rear box. Am I missing something?

thats the problem, I cant find mfg. anywhere. will look again today.
