1997 yamaha ctlrv 115 maintenance schedule

I have a 1997 yamaha 115 ctlrv which I have owned for about 6 years.The original owner had less than 50 hrs of freshwater use on the motor when I purchased it.I am trying to find a maintenance schedule to follow.The owners manual is not much help.The motor currently runs fine (its used almost exclusivelly on the Upper Chesepeak Bay) I just would like to keep it that way.I do not have an hour meter installed but the last few years have run the boat quite a bit.Talked to a mechanic at the local Yamaha dealer.He suggested the following
1) replace water pump
2) replace spark plugs
3) lower unit oil
4) decarb engine-I do add Yamaha Ring Free at every fueling
5) retourque head and water jacket bolts
6) replace fuel filter- which is a screen
7) perform compression and leak down test
8) replace thermostats

Planned on doing most of these items this Fall but wasn't sure if decarbing,replacing the thermostats and fuel filter are scheduled maintenance/ time change items or even needed.Although this is the second time a yamaha mechanic reccomended changing the fuel bowl screen/filter.The thermostats were replaced and the lower unit seals were changed when I originally bought the boat.
Thanks in advance for any input,additional items or a maintenance schedule to follow.This has been a really good motor and I plan on running it for many more years..

why buy a simple screen?
simply clean it and reinstall it, just like the maint says.
the t stats and water pump AND pressure control valve are all yearly or 200 hour maint items.
find a real dealer.
I hand out maint sheets to any customer that asks, Yamaha prints them for 2 stroke carbed,2 stroke EFI,2 stroke HPDI,4 stroke carbed and 4 strke EFI.
what could be more simple?

Install a fuel/water separator on your transom, I use the Walmart($27) unit, easy, 2 screw installation, will save you a lot of grief caused by water/trash in your carbs, great preventive maintenance item!

I installed a Yamaha fuel filter a few years ago.That was after finding my fuel vent was positioned wrong and I was acutally picking up water through it into the tank.After repositioning the vent, adding Startron when fueling and the filter I haven't had any fuel issues since.
Are "maintenance sheets" specific to a model and year or a generic 2 stroke maintenance schedule.I will ask for one but I was looking for something specific for my model.I will replace the "pressure control valve" and thermostats and clean the fuel screen. I guess I am also looking for what in my field we sometimes refer to as tribal knowledge.That would be items you pay attention to due to seeing failures or problems that are not always called out in a maintenance manuel or are time change items.I think thats why Yamaha tech reccomended retorquing the water jacket and head bolts.

Sounds like you're doing most of the specified maintenance but there's lots of other little things that can help your motor. Not a bad idea to remove your prop from time to time to check for fishing line wrapped around prop shaft and damaging the seal. I use a Harbor Freight spark plug sandblaster($17) to blow the carbon off the spark plugs and it'll save you from buying new plugs all the time just due to 2 stroke carbon. I'm still running my original 1999 set of plugs, but I keep a new set on the boat in case the originals ever "wear out". Really clean, fresh plugs go a long way to helping a motor run well. Another good idea is to drain your carbs every now and then(especially at winterizing) to be sure no water/trash in them. A drop of oil now and then on your starter bendix to make sure it's operating freely. Double check all battery/electrical connections for corrosion. And on and on....
