1998 15hp evinrude carburator problems

Hello again guys!<br /> I'm working on a 1998 15hp Evinrude. Itook the carb off and removed the float bowl and I noticed something very unusual. The float wasd stuck in the down position even when the carb was turned upside down the float would not drop.After further investigation I noticed that the float body was hitting the body of the carb. It was hitting the center shaft that comes up trough the center of the carb and sticking there. Does anyone have experience with this issue and was there ever a service bullitenprinted up on the issue.If any one knows about this matter your help would be much appreciated.<br /><br /> THANK YOU!<br /> Nick

It almost sounds like it was "rebuilt " incorrectly.. possibly put back together in the wrong sequence. Should move up and down freely with only the clip and pin connected at the swivel point

I don't think this carb was off of the motor at any time until i have pulled it off and i haven't rebuilt it yet. The reason I don't think that it was off is cause that it still has the factory gel or paint on the idle mixture screw.

By the way the float was within of spec when checking for float drop. May be more usfull information for someone. <br /><br /> Thanks

Probably had some tarnish or gummed deposits on needle valve assy not allowing it to travel freely.

The Float was stuck on the carb body that you could vissually see. This is why I thought that there might be a service bulliten on this.

Weird deal .Is it made of a styro substance that maybe swelled i wonder or just a clearance problem because of the pivot point?

It is made more of the plastic floats and yes there deffinately is a clearance problem but I would also should be a bulletin on this

can you just tweek the attachment point and get it centered enough to clear or does it look like the part is just mismanufactured?
