Recently busted a pinnion gear and stripped the drive shaft. When the gear busted it ruffed the casing up behind where the pinnion gears sets (deep gashes). Will this effect the running of the lower unit if I decide to rebuild. It has a low water pickup installed so I hate to trash. I figured that I could buy a used drive shaft for 100 or 150 and gear replacements for under 500. What do you think?
