1998 225 merc

I seen gear oil leaking out the water intake holes on my lower unit(1998 225hp EFI).Check oil it was empty nothing but water came out. I refill full didn't see any oil, I use the boat couple times check oil againg nothing but water came out. But didn't see oil in between uses.Thanks a million for any help.<br /><br /><br /> HELP PLEASE

oil from the water intake normally indicates a bad drive shaft seal. its very esy to replace and the complete water pump kits is about 100 dollars and comes with the seal and seal carrier assy. check or replace the shift shaft seal while the unit is off. shift shaft seal leakage normally leaks out of the drain holes on the fwd end of the gearcase.
