1998 35 hp 3 cyl evinrude engine intermittent problem

I have had this probelem for about a year now and looking for some help!! MY 2 stroke 3 cylinder Evinrude runs great for weeks at a time then it will just loose power, I change gas tanks and plugs and let it sit for awhile then it will run good again. Lately, I found that when this happens I have no spark in the 1st and 3 cylinders.

Otim.....start by doing some general checks.<br /><br />Check all the ground connections are clean and tight.<br /><br />Check the amphenol connector plugs (that's those rubber plugs that connects wire bundles together) and make sure all the pins and sockets are making contact and none are dirty.<br /><br />Check the spark plug wires are not corroded on the insides.<br /><br />Just sounds like an intermittent contact problem....Check back in if you find anything or didn't find anything and we'll go from there.

Go search for my thread "Frustrating 35hp engine problems".<br /><br />Sounds very similar to my problem, which after a year, turned out to be a power pack. Has run like a charm since, so I'm pretty sure that was the issue.<br /><br />Good luck,<br /><br />FishHog

I checked all the wiring and connection and all seemed clean with no corrision and everything is connected

What did you have to do to replace the power pack?

I took it to the dealer, as I gave up trying to figure out what was wrong.<br /><br />its just a bolt on part, cost me $450 CAN to have it done.<br /><br />FishHog

They just bolt on with two bolts. Easy job. Make sure the wire is making good contact with the engine and don't swap the plug wires. If I remember they run about 60.00 apiece at the dealer.
