I have a 50 hp johnson. I jhust bought the boat after it sat for two years. I changed the gear oil in the lower unit and it was clean with no water. Now after running the boat I have a milky streak dripping from the exhaust. checked the lower unit oil again and still looks good. Looking for some reason as to what this might be? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Probably unburnt fuel oil. Every motor I have owned does that to some degree or other.

I remember on my old 96 150 HP some residual dripping down the skeg from the exhaust but this is a heavy milky substance. it doesn't seem right. not sure where it's coming from

Have you been running it in a barrel or muffs or actually out on the water. It must be your unburned oil/gas mix that gets built up in the lower unit. Check to be sure your running on both cylinders and that your stat is working properly allowing engine to reach normal operating temp. Main thing is not to worry as it is very normal to see. Best of luck. Rick.

thanks for the input Rick.

I have had it in the water and running on muffs. I am running on both cylinders, they each have 150 pounds compression. I am running double oil right now as I wanted to verify my VRO pump was working.

Double oil will be your problem then. Once you trust your VRO that stuff will disappear. Rick.

"Now after running the boat I have a milky streak dripping from the exhaust." 100% normal for a 2stroke motor. unburn fuel/carbon in exhaust housing.
