1998 90hp Force starting problems

I have a hard time getting the engine to idle when I first start up in the morning. I start in high nuetral, push choke in and when engine starts bring it back down to low idle. It will run about 5 seconds, cough and stall. I need to do this several times until it finally stays running.

I have made carb adjustments, idle adjustments, changed fuel filter, changed plugs and even decarb the carb. It runs well at cruising speed, however will sometimes stall when I shift back down to nuetral. Not sure what to check next.

idle should be at 700 in gear at idle. Around 900 in neutral at idle when warm.

Carb jets may need to be removed and cleaned.

These motors can be a pain when they are cold.

Try tapping the choke when it wants to sputter and die.

I only get to use the boat once a week so it's a real cold start.

The idle rpm's are fine. I would try to tap the choke , but the engine gives me no warning or sputter, it just konks out with one cough.

How would I go about cleaning the carb jets?
