DHAPLEY #685 CAN YOU GIVE INFO ON 1998 175 H.P. FICHT EVINRUDES. I HAVE TWO(2) JUST BOUGHT- THEY RUN OK - CAN I RUN REGUALR JOHNSON OIL IN THEM - I KNOW ABOUT PLUGS + INDEXING_. THATS IT . ANY SUGESSIONS?? WHAT TO LOOK FOR DOWN THE ROAD WHAT NOT TO DO?? HOW TO KEEP RUNNING? RTUTTLE200HPJ #32720.

Only use oil specific for DFI engines such as FICHT Ram oil, or the new Bomb XD50. Also, Merc oil speced for the Optimax engines will work. This year of engine was noted for more than the usual number of problems. Which more often than not was a blown powerhead. I had one of these engines and the powerhead was replaced under warranty. When my extended warranty was almost over, I traded it in, with 50 hrs on new motor. On the trade inpection, at lest one cylinder had, as the service tech said " A nice little scored area right by the exhaust port"
