1998 Force 120hp idle adjustment

I need to increase the idle. Where is that adjustment located? Is it the large flathead screw inserted into the throttle lever that also has the nut on it? If so, I cannot turn the screw for nothing (even after backing off the nut)... it is very tight!

Idle speed adjustment is made on the engine side of the cable, not on the remote control at the helm.

OK, my mistake, it sounded like you were describing something on the other end.

If you are at the machine screw and nut, attached to the tower shaft, you are at the right place.

Can't turn it either way?

I suspect it is cross threaded.
Does it look like it is straight in the threads?
Or someone put in the wrong screw.
