1998 Four Winns Horizon 180 with Volvo Penta 4.3 GL, top speed?

I was wondering what the top speed on my boat should be with this motor? Also what should the revs be at? The reason im asking , is because i can only get about 36 mph and the revs are around 4100( with the trim all the way down). Doesnt seem like it adds any speed if i put the trim up any. I was thinking this motor should go to 45mph and rev higher. I just did a complete tune up on the boat also with all factory parts.

Ayuh,... It's hard to believe that Trimming has No effect on the hulls attitude,+ motor rpms...

I'd expect to see the #s you mention....4800rpms,.. mid-high 40smph...

Trim it up till the RPM increases and the speed decreases. Then you are trimmed too high. bring it down some. You will see things happens in between. Experiment you will be amazed what will happen

ive only trimmed up about halfway but honestly i cant really tell much a difference unless im supposed to drive like that for longer than a min to notice it. also the bottom of the boat is painted with some paint that is supposed to keep mold and mildew from growing on it. its like a rough texture so maybe that is really slowing the boat down. the fastest i have had the rpms is 4100 and the boat speedo said 35-36mph. also could i just have a bad prop maybe?

Bottom paint doesn't help top speed. I'd take a look at prop size/pitch.
