I just bought this boat with a 3.0 in it. Does anyone know if the stringers in it on each side of the engine are spaced the same distance as a 185 with a 4.3 for motor mount purpose's?

If not, a fabrication shop should be able to make a mount that will adapt the old mounting location to mate to the 4.3l

I'm hoping it's that easy but it has a front mount in it right now which is common for the 3.0 . The 4.3 will have the motor mounts on the side. My concern for now is that the stringers on each side of the engine are the same height and width apart as the 4.3 version of this boat. Most if not all of any fab work will be done in my shop. I'm a welder by trade but not opposed to working with wood and fiber glass if need be.

I know your boat is a lot newer than mine but could i ask you to measure inside to inside of your stringers right below the engine and post it? That may well give me the information i'm looking for.

Yea I can snap a couple photos and measurement for you next time I am poking around in there. Its pouring here in NY and will be raining for the next few days, so its going to be a couple days before I feel like taking the cover off.

Thank You. I'm leaving for work in Texas this morning. The boat is in Dallas so I'll get a good look at my new project later on today.
