Don't know what kind of info you're looking for Carl. The J in the model number means it's a Johnson engine.200 is the horsepower.ST means special styling and a tilt/trim feature.L means it's a long shaft (20")model.EC confirms it's a 1998 model engine. And the last E is just a model run letter which is of little significance. The serial number is specific to the engine and would only be useful for tracking down any service records from a reputable dealer that have or have not been performed.

In general the engines are definately good motors if upkept.Do you happen to know where it was purchased so you could track down any service that has been performed?Do you own the engine or looking to buy?Do you know if the waterpump/t-stats has/have been replaced since new? If not ,it's due.Vro still connected and in good working order?

It came with an OMS pump, not a VRO pump. If you mention VRO to a parts guy, that's what parts he looks up. That can get confusing. And you could end up with the wrong parts or info.

Still a valid question though. If the oil injection is still hooked up, make sure there's no water in the oil tank.
