A friend who owes me some money asked if I'd be interested in his 1998 johnson 4 stroke, electric start, remote control, 22" shaft kicker instead of cash. He says it runs great and I need a kicker. I can't find any info on the net other than where to buy a manual which I'll surely order if I take it. Anyone know anything about this unit? I'd sure like to know the approximate weight..and/or anything else good, bad or ugly. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Post a model #. If it was built by the old OMC company it was POS.

Nothing wrong with them, Suzuki makes some good motors. There was least one comparison on 9.9s in a magazine, it should come up in a Google search.

I agree with you on the Suzuki built mtrs. What I'm talking about is the 4 strokes that the old OMC company built before they went bankrupt. Not to good. And yes OMC was building them in 1998. I have an orginal 1998 service manual out in my shop right now.

If the model # is correct that mtr was built buy OMC in 1998. As I said before it was a POS. When Johnson started putting their name on the Suzuki mtrs they were fine. If it was me I would stay away from it. Way far away.
