1998 johnson 90 hp

just wondering. we bought the boat/motor new in 98. it has bean used only on a small lake in maine. it has about 250 hrs on it. if it had been used in salt water i would have replaced the water pump by now.should i do it any way? the water stream coming off the engine is strong.thanks for any help.

It is cheap insurance to rebuild the water pump and change the thermostats every few years. More than five years may be pushing your luck. Good luck with it.
